Dream Triptych: Mashup Week 2005
The works of lots of folks appear in this "television show", notably the moving voice of atom bomb survivor Sakue Shimohira on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki. Each element chilled, moved or otherwise stayed with me: spoken words - Sakue Shimohira (thanks to Democracy Now) "American Flag" - unknown vlogger (metadata reminder alert) "Flux Film No. 14" - Fluxus 1966 cello - Robert Rowe poem "Wet Feet" - Ron Androla spoken poem - John Korn "Foolium" - Roy Trumbull of...

New York Poems :: Joy
Another of my favorite collaborative efforts. Elaine Jones & Ed McPhillips read. The words are theirs. Wonderfully frightening meditation on obsession. I'm posting it everywhere - to all my sites - because this poem just works on every level I can think of at the moment; and because when violence is associated with love weird things worthy of study happen. Don't have a still photograph of Elaine & Ed together, but there is a film school video not yet digitized that might well go up.

Natural Light: Ode to Cinematography
Natural Light A waterfall of strands cascades and settles downwind of the girl with the beautiful hair. You would stop, admire the effect, adjust each rivulet just so; invent the watery story that brought her here for this perfect moment as an excuse to press the button. But because, for you, light is as much enemy as friend, this instant of her hair made spectacular is washed away with the passing of a four-by cloud.

The World's Longest Open Love Letter :: Introduction
I'm a survivor of early childhood trauma. For a long time, that trauma colored life in shades of grey. Finally figured out that in order to change in the deep ways required, I would have to take extreme measures. Behavior Modification was the answer. Practice. Practice. Practice. Here is documentary footage of some early work in art and performance Behavior Modification. Meditations, all.

Dark Cities :: A Film Poem - Jan McLaughlin
This is the poem that wouldn't die. Personally, I think I know why. This is as good as political poetry gets. Edward J. Reasor of I Love Movies, Inc. directed and Executive Produced this film. It could be said that plenty of folks believed enough in it to come out and play with us. For my part, in the writing of the teleplay for this poem, I allowed a lot of unconscious imagery flow. Wall Street and Trinity Church were key locations...
